Brookes Cambridge is part of the Brookes Education Group which serves over 1,400 students within six countries, including Canada, Russia, India, South Korea, the USA, and the UK.
The local campus, based in Suffolk, is set within seven acres of beautiful countryside and provides nursery, preparatory, senior and boarding services to students throughout the UK and internationally..
Armed with a mission to draw out the human potential within each student, Brookes Cambridge provides their students with tools to give them confidence and a mind-set to take on new challenges.
Following an extensive and impressive expansion of their campus in 2016/17, Brookes Cambridge found that they we’re facing a number of IT challenges. These included a lack of connectivity into the campus and between buildings, staff working with ageing equipment in the classroom and also with an outdated telephony system. All of which made it challenging to manage classes and to provide the best possible learning environment for their students.
Brookes were seeking an innovative partner who would understand and appreciate their individual position and could offer a service that would go above and beyond a standard IT support contract.
Brookes first approached Green Duck back in 2016 where we helped them by providing a powerful WiFi solution that was configured specifically to their needs, and included separate Guest and Staff access. Our partnership with market-leaders enabled us to deliver a feature-rich, secure and scalable solution that seamlessly manages multiple endpoints throughout their estate.
Following this initial project, we worked with the team at Brookes to upgrade their existing hardware with a solution that supported their strategy. This included new suite of Apple products for staff, and for their ICT classroom in addition to a new server. All of which were networked and secured using a next-generation firewall. This powerful firewall allowed them to create comprehensive security policies which protects them from modern threats across their network, on their endpoints and in the cloud.
In addition to this, we also provided our Hardware as a Service solution which helped them to reduce capital expenditure and mitigate risk.
To help them upgrade their telephony, we replaced their old system with a brand new hosted solution. This removed the need for a large PBX within their building, therefore reducing hardware and maintenance costs. It was also perfectly suited to their multi-building layout as it easily connects each building and allows for flexible working, throughout their campus.
Finally, we support Brookes’ in-house IT Manager through a tailored IT Manager Support (ITMS) plan. This allows them to work safe in the knowledge that their technology partner (us) is on hand to support them with any network specific issues.
We also support Brookes with projects such as providing additional laptops for students with learning difficulties who may need home-based facilities to support their learning. These are specifically configured, secure devices that are protected through Brookes’ own firewall.
Of course, what matters most to Brookes Cambridge is their students. Our unique approach means that what’s important to them, is also important to us. Together, we’ve created an environment that enables their students to thrive and flourish.
