Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of acquiring website traffic from organic (free) search results on search engines such as Google.
With the majority of traffic being driven by search engines, it’s important to ensure that your website is as visible as possible to people looking for the products and services you provide.
There are numerous elements involved in SEO from the technical to the creative, but there are several simple steps you can take yourself.
Ensure your content is up-to-date and relevant. It’s important to include appropriate keywords within your webpage headings as well as your body text. Avoid duplicate content anywhere on your site and don’t be tempted to copy & paste from another website.
Monitor how fast your site is and how well it works. Both visitors and search engines like fast, well-performing websites.
Links from good quality, trusted websites such as your suppliers or review websites.
Make sure people can easily navigate your website. A secure and stylish site will also have a positive effect. If you find visitors are leaving your site soon after landing, it is likely that one or more of these factors aren’t hitting the mark.
If you have images or photos on your website, make sure you name them. An alt tag describes what is in an image and will strengthen the quality of the page and earn brownie points with search engine bots.

Be careful not to get carried away and overuse keywords, and don’t be tempted to buy links to your site. These will do more harm than good!
